Never pay with gift cards. If someone asks you to purchase gift cards, consider that a major red flag.
Gift cards are not a standard form of currency, and a charity or government agency would never ask you to pay using gift cards.
Consumers who send gift card or prepaid card codes to scammers will not get that money back.
Note: In general, regardless of whether you're being scammed or not, paying with a credit card offers you more protection than paying with cash or a debit card.
