Thomas Pohlman, Chairman, President and CEO of Ames National Corporation, headquartered in Ames, Iowa, will retire on June 29, 2018 with more than 41 years of leadership and banking experience in commercial, retail and private banking, as well as extensive work in lending and marketing.
Tom is a graduate of Morningside College. He joined First National Bank in January of 1998 as Senior Vice President. He was promoted to Executive Vice President in December of 1998 and President in 1999. Tom was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ames National Corporation in 2006 and President and CEO in 2007. In 2016, Tom was recognized by the Ames Chamber of Commerce as Business Person of the Year.
In addition to his banking success, Tom has been an active community member, serving in various leadership positions throughout his career in Ames, including:
Ames Economic Development Commission Board and Executive Committee Member
Ames Chamber of Commerce President
United Way of Story County Campaign Chair
Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation President, Board Member and Finance Committee Member
Rotary District 6000 Treasurer
In addition to his community leadership, he has also served in many banking association roles, including:
Iowa Bankers Association, Chairman
IBA Finance Committee Member
ABA Community Bankers Council Member
Iowa Bankers Mortgage Corporation Board Member
Iowa Commission for Volunteer Service Board Member
Tom’s extensive work with both local and state-wide initiatives is an example of his commitment to community betterment and improving the local business climate. Through his work as a banking leader, his career has been spent finding ways to help businesses and retail customers succeed in their financial lives.

Tom and his wife, Tricia, have two grown children, Lindsay and Brandon. Lindsay and her husband, Nate, have three children and live in Ankeny. Brandon and his wife, Lisa, reside in Colorado with their son.
