Brian J. Laurenzo, J.D. Joins First National Bank’s Board of Directors
AMES, IOWA – June 12, 2024 – Brian J. Laurenzo is a lawyer with Brick Gentry, P.C., a law firm in West Des Moines, Iowa. Laurenzo joined First National Bank’s Board of Directors in June 2024.
Laurenzo was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1988 and Iowa bar in 1991. He was also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh, Eight and Federal Circuits, and U.S. Supreme Court (1993); U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois (1988); U.S. District Court, Central District of Illinois (1992); U.S District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa (1991); and is registered before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
After completing undergraduate studies at Iowa State University (B.S., Construction Engineering, 1984), Laurenzo attended DePaul University College of Law (J.D., 1988).
Laurenzo is a member of the Polk County Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association (Intellectual Property Law Section Council, 1998-2002); Iowa Intellectual Property Law Association (President, 1995-1996); and TechLaw Group (an international consortium of leading law firms that serve high-technology clients) (2006-2010).
Laurenzo’s practice includes the filing and prosecution of patents, trademarks, and copyrights in the United States and with associates in foreign countries throughout the world. He also provides clients with patent and trademark availability and infringement opinions; licensing and transfer of intellectual property rights and technology; and counseling and implementation of enforcement strategies and litigation of matters concerning patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, unfair competition, technology, and e-commerce, as well as online brand management and domain name law.
Before Brian Laurenzo joined Brick Gentry PC, he served as head of the Intellectual Property Law Practice Group for the Des Moines Regional Office of Dorsey & Whitney, LLP. Previous to this, he was a shareholder at Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors, and Roberts, P.C.
Laurenzo is listed in Best Lawyers in America, 2007-present, in Litigation – Intellectual Property and Trademark Law.
Brian Laurenzo has also served the Greater Des Moines community in various capacities including Councilmember and Mayor of the City of Johnston (1999-2007). He was a founding member and long-time chair of Bravo Greater Des Moines and is currently serving as incoming Chair of the Des Moines Arts Festival. He has served both as Chair of the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors for ChildServe, as well as numerous other community boards.
