Banking on Character First
Banking on Character First is a program designed by First National Bank to recognize, encourage and reward Ankeny students for developing community service ideas. By aligning rewards and recognition with community service projects, the Banking on Character First program benefits a wide range of students and people in our community.
How it Works
Banking on Character First will be implemented in all Ankeny schools. Each submission must be accompanied by a teacher or school district sponsor to be eligible. Each project will be submitted directly to the Bank.
Once the nominations have been submitted, they will be reviewed by the Bank selection committee, who will determine a winner. Winning entries will be based on community impact and sustainability. Ankeny Market President, Tom Friedman will then contact the principal at the appropriate school, the winner and sponsor to announcing the winning name, grade, teacher, school and community project, as well as reminding them that all gifts and certificates should be claimed at First National Bank. The bank will contact the teacher directly to determine the classroom donation.
Student Recognition
Students who are selected as winners will receive $75 savings account deposits at First National Bank, along with a certificate acknowledging their achievements. The certificates can be picked up when they come in to establish their savings accounts. $75 will also be provided to help with project implementation costs. Additionally, we will make public announcements recognizing the student including: a press release, Ankeny Chamber announcements, approved school venues, E-backpacks and Facebook.
Students who were nominated but did not win will receive certificates acknowledging their participation and a First National Bank gift, both of which they can pick up at First National Bank’s Ankeny location. Submissions worthy of a second consideration will be held for review during the following month.
Teacher Recognition
Each month we will also award the teacher or sponsor of the winning student with a $50 classroom donation. The teacher will also be highlighted in all public announcements that are made. We will show our appreciation with a teacher event at First National Bank once the program has concluded in April. Submit your ideas today!
