Video Banking, Have You Given it a Try?

Video Banking is a Personalized Service… What Banking Should Be.

You may have seen the “Video Banking” signs in the drive-up lane or inside the entrance to your favorite First National Bank branch, but have you given this convenient service a try?

Video Banking is a service delivered via Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs). ITMs are available at our branches in Ames (Main/North Grand/West Ames), Ankeny, Valley Junction, and West Des Moines, and resemble a regular ATM.

Video Banking is popular with customers because it delivers a personalized, in-branch like experience accessible from the comfort of your vehicle. It’s easy to use, simply drive-up or walk-up to an ITM and touch the screen to begin communicating face-to-face with a First National Bank representative. Our representatives can look up your account information and assist you with many bank transactions…well beyond those that you can do using the machine for ATM transactions.

How is an ITM different from an ATM?

Although ITMs function as 24/7 ATMs, they are not just cash machines. They offer customers a face-to-face personal interaction with a First National Bank Customer Service representative using interactive video technology, much like Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp, and other video-enabled technologies.

When you use Video Banking you can complete a much wider range of bank transactions.

How does Video Banking work?

It’s easy! Simply touch the screen during Video Banking hours and a First National Bank representative will appear to assist you with your transaction. There are no forms to fill out, just tell the representative what type of assistance you need.

ITMs are also equipped with assistive features that make them accessible to customers using their communication preference: speech-enabled, tactile keypad, headphone jack, chat, and text-to-speech.

What hours are Video Banking services available?

With Video Banking we are able to expand our personal banking hours and serve customers on their schedule, like before and after work.

Video Banking is available Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Tips for using an ITM

  • Unlike using an ATM, you don’t need a debit card to conduct a transaction. The Customer Service representative can look you up by name or account number and scan your ID if necessary.
  • ITMs are capable of accepting multiple checks or bills at the same time. It works best when the items are flat with no tears. Be sure to remove all paper clips, staples, and rubber bands before placing the items in the ITM.
  • If you would like more privacy, the on-screen volume can be adjusted, earphones or headsets can be plugged in, and you can use the chat messaging system on the touch screen to type a message or scan a piece of paper for the representative to read.

Additional perks

  • Cash can be withdrawn on request in a variety of denominations, including 1s, 5s, 20s, or 50s. This means you can get your cash exactly how you want it, and withdrawals conducted this way will not affect your daily debit card withdrawal limit.
  • Our representatives can help with a variety of non-transaction-based requests as well, including balance inquiries, ordering checks, setting up travel notices, and more.
  • If you are on your lunch break or pressed for time, you can use Video Banking through the drive-up to save time.
